I find that I enjoy designing all layouts of kitchens, but I rarely work with Galley style kitchens, so for this practice project I wanted to take on a project that was more trendy, with lighter color cabinets and a simple shaker door style.
The image beside is the mood board I put together to inspire this project. I wanted to play around with that soft green hue (almost seafoam green) and find colors that complimented it, so I chose some gold and brass finishes to add some visual interest and aimed to incorporate some textures that would break the repetition that a galley design usually falls into.
I envisioned maybe an older couple who lived in this space and they've had to deal with this narrow kitchen for decades but they have found ways to work efficiently around it, yet it's time for an upgrade.
As part of this project, I wanted to mess around with the lighting plug-in in Design Live 2020. I decided to add undercabinet lighting to the prep spaces next to the sink in this design but the lighting does not show up very well in the renderings.
Overall I found this project to be very enjoyable, as I tried to problem solve as issues came up in this design.
